What is Fiberglass?

What is Fiberglass?

Fiberglass or glass fiber is a reinforced plastic material which is composed of a woven material that is embedded with glass fibers which are randomly laid across each other and held together with a binding substance. Fiberglass is combined with resin to form an extremely strong and durable composite. Fiberglass textiles are commonly used as a reinforcement material for molded and laminated plastics. Fiberglass wool, a thick, fluffy material made from discontinuous fibers, is used for thermal insulation and sound absorption.

Applications include aircraft, boats, automobiles, bath tubs and enclosures, swimming pools, hot tubs, septic tanks, water tanks, roofing, pipes, cladding, casts, surfboards, and external door skins. Other common names for fiberglass are glass-reinforced plastic (GRP), glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP) or FRP Fibre Reinforced Plastic.

Fibre Transparent Roofing Sheet

Fibreglass Vs Polycarbonate, Danpalon

Just as someone who know less about Transparent Roofing Sheet materials will categorize all transparent sheet to be of same product, but there is need to know that there are great differences in these materials as every of them has each advantages and defect.

Fibreglass does not rot and remains unaffected by the action of rodents and insects and has low thermal conductivity making it highly useful in the building industry. It is used to manufacture parts for both military and civilian aerospace industry including test equipment, ducting, enclosures, and others. As a Fibreglass manufacturer, we’ll help you know about the benefits that fibreglass can provide over polycarbonate and danpalon, when used a roofing or siding.

  • Durability
Fibreglass is lightweight, strong and less brittle, the best part of fibreglass is its ability to get molded into various complex shapes, this is more of reason why fibreglass is widely used in bathtubs, boats, aircraft, roofing, and also used in making bulletproofs. With these points we get to know that fibreglass is more durable than polycarbonate and danpalon.
  • Ultra violence light resistance
polycarbonate and danpalon fades when exposed to sunlight and are not defensive against the harmful radiations of the sun, this is the more reason why fibreglass are used in standard producing factories for skylights over polycarbonate and danpalon.
  • Mechanical strength
Fibreglass has a specific resistance greater than steel. So, it is used to make high-performance electrical, it is a good electrical insulator even at low thickness, superseding polycarbonate and danpalon.
